Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure when to see us? These are the questions patients ask most.

When to see an oral surgeon for wisdom teeth issues?

If you experience pain, discomfort, swelling, or recurrent infections near the back of your mouth, it may be due to impacted or problematic wisdom teeth. An oral surgeon can evaluate your wisdom teeth and recommend treatment if needed.

Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?

Not necessarily. While many people experience complications with their wisdom teeth, not all wisdom teeth cause problems. Each tooth is assessed individually based on its alignment, potential for impaction, and other dental health factors. A comprehensive evaluation determines the appropriate action.

What are the signs of impacted wisdom teeth?

Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to pain, swelling, and even infection. Other signs include bad breath, difficulty opening the mouth, and tenderness when biting or chewing. If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an evaluation with an oral surgeon.

How long is the recovery period after wisdom teeth removal?

Recovery times vary, but most people start feeling better within a few days. Follow your post-operative instructions, which may include taking prescribed medications, adopting a soft food diet, and practicing good oral hygiene.

Do I need a referral to consult an oral surgeon about wisdom teeth?

While many patients are directed to oral surgeons by their general dentists, a referral is not required. If you have concerns or symptoms related to your wisdom teeth, you can schedule a consultation with our office directly.
